Different Walks of Life in the "Global South"

Neuguss Training Trip

On the 3rd of October 2019, 15 employees from the Neuguss group of companies went on an 8-day training trip to Thika in Kenya, northeast of Nairobi. They met with the NGO project partners of GLS Treuhand who introduced them to the locals, and they got to find out more about the projects being funded.

The trip gave them the opportunity to meet people face to face "so as to form a real connection with them". The primary emphasis was on education, organic agriculture, water and the supply of water, as well as health care and care for AIDS orphans. The programme did not focus just on information, but also on aid. For example, all those involved took part in the construction of water tanks and in preparing a borehole for its first use, supported a nursery in cultivating avocado trees, produced compost and helped plant trees. Experiences we do not want to miss out on.

Give people an opportunity to develop themselves and you will be surprised at what they can do for themselves. S. A. C. D. E. P – Kenya Training & Conference Facilities, Thika, Kenia

The trip was arranged and organised by the Zukunftsstiftung Entwicklung (Future Foundation Development) within GLS Treuhand e.V., which has been supporting projects in Kenya for many years. Before visiting the individual sites and partaking in the numerous hands-on experiences, discussions were also held on organisational cultures, organisational processes to liberate communities and facilitate economic autonomy. These are the central components of the projects steered by the GLS Zukunftsstiftung Entwicklung, so naturally they were also the themes of this trip.
